Shan Soup Dumpling is the most authentic Sichuan restaurant I've found in the Lakeway / Lake Travis area. The ingredients are clearly fresh, and everything tastes home-cooked, like real Chinese home cooking rather than Americanized takeout. The flavors are bold and properly Sichuan, You leave satisfied but not too heavy. The soup dumplings (xiao long bao) are a must: thin wrappers and a rich broth inside. The Hunan chicken had real depth and heat without being oily, and the bun was excellent too. If you live in Lakeway and want genuine Sichuan food, go. Highly recommend, and we'll be back.

The flavors and textures of the dumplings is on par with the street food in Taiwan. Real foodies are always looking for a great hole in the wall with amazing food. This place is one of them.

Wow. The head cook/chef is obviously very skilled and experienced. We tried several dishes, from their soup dumplings, fried rice, and steamed fish to everything in between. Each dish was cooked exactly how they should be. Green beans were nicely blistered, but still snappy. The fish was tender, light, and flavor full all through out, and the dumplings an explosion of flavor. The fried rice was actually fried, not steamed due to over crowding the pan. Truly impressive food. Service was also kind, attentive, but didn't constantly interrupt us. If you are looking for excellent examples of Chinese food to enjoy with friends and family, I can think of a better place in this side of 360.

Always delicious no matter what i choose on the vast option menu. Tons of dumplings to choose from as well. If you haven't stopped by before, please give them a try. It's a very good option for Lakeway!
